Wax Museum
A highly anticipated third grade tradition, the Wax Museum is open to all members of the Monica Ros School community. Every third grader chooses a famous, or sometimes, infamous, person to portray. The students examine the life of their subject and write speeches explaining his or her impact on our history. They develop costumes reflecting the particular traits and general historical fashion of their character. After much practice in the classroom and with their peers, they head out to the playground with a “push me” button on their shoulder. Then, as every schoolmate, teacher, and parent pushes their buttons, they offer up a memorized monologue. It’s an educational and highly impressive morning, followed by a potluck picnic for the third grade families.
