Spanish
At Monica Ros School, we provide our students with the enriching and delightful experience of learning Spanish from the day they set foot on our campus as three-year-olds all the way through third grade graduation. With energetic Spanish sessions that include an array of activities, games, songs, movement, and projects, students develop a conversational understanding of Spanish and a keen awareness of Spanish-speaking cultures as a result of our comprehensive program. Favorite activities among the children are I Spy / Yo Veo, Simon Says / Simón Dice, and making tortillas or traditional Mexican hot chocolate.
For preschool and elementary-aged children, the opportunity learn a second (or third!) language enhances intellectual growth and improves the understanding of their primary language. It also provides new avenues for self-expression and unlocks the door to a deeper level of interaction with the people, literature, and customs of cultures not their own. For young children who are already bilingual, another language taught in their classroom (even if it is not their mother tongue) heightens monolingual children’s awareness of, and curiosity about, world languages and cultures, giving bilingual children a chance to excel and share their own heritage with classmates.
