Kindergarten

In Kindergarten, Monica Ros School uses a team-teaching approach so that children can work in small-group settings that allow for personal attention to individual needs. Our dedicated team of kindergarten teachers concentrates on building a strong foundation in language arts and mathematics through meaningful and exciting activities based on rotating thematic units. We begin the year in kindergarten under the sea, studying oceans and all of the creatures that live therein.  Our math, language arts, social studies, science, and art activities, as well as bi-weekly Spanish classes, are integrated with our theme.  Children look forward to exciting kindergarten traditions including our study of penguins, hatching and raising our own baby chicks, and the transformation of our classroom into a rainforest.  Kindergarteners enjoy special music, Spanish, library, and physical education classes each week, and they put on numerous class plays in addition the culminating opera performance at the end of the year.  They also love getting to know the older students through our Buddy Reading friendships and participating in cross-grade Arts Month and Theme Week activities.
