October 2009

A quick note and a few photos of your children, engaged in their day. Here are a few of the highlights of the past few weeks.
This week we welcome Joey to our classroom. His parents are Maria and Steve; help us in welcoming them to the Green Room.
A big thank you to Leif’s mom Kristi for coming in and making pizza with us! Our MWF children experienced baking banana muffins, they were yummy. We finished our beanie babies and enjoyed weighing different items around the classroom, for comparison. We are pleasantly surprised, to see beans growing in the garden, and we will continue to watch them grow! You may have noticed our eye color graph hanging in the classroom; it’s amazing how many blue eyed children we have.
Wow, we made it through some very hot days. Many children don’t seem to notice the heat, while others are weather sensitive. We have adjusted our outside schedule to accommodate those children who prefer to be inside during the 11:00 recess time.
Next week, we begin to take a look at the five senses: touch, sight, smell, taste and sound. This unit of study provides children opportunities to identify, compare and classify items in the world around them. If you would like to share something related to this topic with the class, please do not hesitate to bring it in.
Thank you for supporting our school with your raffle donations, we were told our collection was one of the largest, bravo! We look forward to seeing you all at Fiesta, it is sure to be a good time for all!

Fondly, Mrs. Drury and Mrs. Simonds

September News from the Green Room

The Children have adjusted nicely to their new routine.  Thanks to all of you for helping to make the separation go smoothly.  We are so proud of your children.  Now that we have the routine down we will be taking a closer look at “Me and My Family”. Please take a moment when dropping off your child to help tag where your family members live in the United States, you will find the map on the first bulletin board.

If you are interested in hosting a holiday party, the sign-up sheet is now up on the whiteboard in the classroom. Thank you to Jeff_Sojka for volunteering to head up our art auction project!  And, a special thanks to Theresa_Vyhnal and Kara_Hooper for volunteering to be Room Parents.

Spanish class with Senorita Carlson started today, she joined us for snack for some conversational Spanish and then led us into a short group time.  The MWF children will join her tomorrow.  Thursday and Friday we will begin our movement class with Mrs. Hamann, we will send you some pictures of this joyful experience!

What a wonderful group of children, we are so lucky!
