April Blue Room Newsletter
Dear Blue Room Parents,
Can you believe how time is flying??? We have six weeks of school left! The Blue Room children are so busy, happy and content that we don’t want it to ever end! They are busy building, writing, drawing, doing puzzles, exploring all the science in our classroom and working hard at being good friends to each other. It is a wonderful!
Dinosaurs have once again become extinct in the Blue Room. We are still busy hammering, chiseling and brushing at the dinosaur “fossil”. The Blue Room Paleontologists will continue the excavation until we recover the fossil from its “Jurassic rock”. The Blue Roomers were very enthusiastic dinosaur learners and to extend our study we learned about volcanoes after we returned from spring break.
For the rest of the school year we will be exploring the world of nature. We will be learning about interesting reptiles, snails, bugs including crickets, millipedes and pill bugs. We are hoping to observe life cycles in action with both frogs and silkworms. We will empty our worm box and observe the red wiggler worms that we have been feeding all year. Mrs. Luboff’s ball pythons will come back for another visit. If your child has something from nature that would be of interest we would love to see it.
We are quite excited about our field trip this Wednesday, April 22. Thank you, those of you that have already let us know that you can drive! Many permission slips are still missing. If for some reason your child’s slip did not get home we have extras. Please send your child with a water bottle and an ice pack in their lunch because it may be very hot! Also, please send your child to school with a good application of sunscreen on.
The Blue Room Musical (aka the class play) has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 20th at 5:30. We are hoping the early evening time will make it easier for parents to come; siblings, grandparents and other important people in your child’s life are also invited. We hope every Blue Room child will be able to be here that evening because it is such a great experience to perform in front of a wonderful and loving audience! We will have a potluck style party after the play. Look for a sign up sheet for setup, clean up, food and paper goods coming soon We will keep you posted as it all comes together!
We are sending home several Scholastic book orders with this newsletter. Thank you to Aly_Grigsby for volunteering again to take care of the whole ordering process for us!
If you have questions about anything please ask us!
Fondly, Mrs. Luboff and Mrs. Klimbal
Kindergarten News April 2009
Welcome back! We trust Spring Break was a happy and restful time for you and your families. We are proud to announce the arrival of our 27 baby chicks. Our most sincere appreciation goes out to the families that helped by doing “chick check” over spring break! We appreciate all your effort and love! Thank you, parents who drove and accompanied us to roller-skating.
The Kindergarten has been transformed into a tropical rainforest and home to endangered animals. The habitat will continue to delight the children as we explore the various creatures which call the jungle home. We will launch a school-wide fund raising effort to help save our endangered rainforest.
Language Arts: Our new theme will be based on the exploration of the rainforest. These endangered areas are home to over half the world’s plant and animal life. We plan to explore many species with the children. Each child will be given the opportunity to research and contribute information about a specific animal, culminating in a report and poster for the class. We will incorporate our reading and writing program and journal entries into theme based activities.
Math: We will spend time reviewing coins as we prepare to create animal habitats. Each child will be given a budget of 26 cents and the opportunity to earn additional funds by working in the Rainforest Store selling creation materials. Please send in donations of recyclable materials such as strawberry baskets, packing materials, very small boxes, Cardboard, fabric, paper towel rolls and anything else that would make a nice rainforest environment. Each child will create a home for their chosen animal. Please come to the Grand opening of our Rain Forest Habitats on Wednesday April 29th @9:00 a.m.
Lost and Found: We have prescription sunglasses found in Kindergarten…..white and gold!

Dear Parents,
The weeks ahead will fly by. The days are filled with extra activities. Grab a pencil. Mark your calendars for May 1st. The children will go to Libbey Bowl to enjoy the Story Telling Festival. When they return to school, the Mad Hatters Tea Party will be awaiting them. In our class, Stacy_Davis, Curtis and Wanda_Sakai and Steve_Wood have signed up to design, decorate and provide refreshments for tables. Thank you.
The children love this tradition.
On May 8th the children will honor our dear Mothers at a tea which will begin at 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday, May 13th, the class will go to Soule Park for our class picnic. It is a simple affair—but lots of fun! The children bring a sack lunch and we bring Popsicles. They play and we return to school after an extended lunch hour.
Friday, May 15, you will enjoy our all-school Spring Production at 6:30p.m. Details will be sent home as that date approaches.
Please don’t worry about our academic program during these fun filled days. “School Work” is carefully monitored every day. The children have worked diligently all year and have earned these special pleasures.
Thank you for all that you do to help us make the days at school rich and wonderful.
Gratefully and fondly, Mrs. K. and Mrs. S.
